Terms of read

The terms on which these pages are read

These pages are information, not advice. The figures are measurements of published sources and carry the limits of those sources. Responsibility for the decision rests with the reader, who makes it alone.

Information, not advice

The site contains no investment advice, no recommendation and no offer. What the figures describe is cost, not the action a reader ought to take. A chart pattern is a record of a past price stretch, not a promise about the next one. The desk does not tell a reader to buy, sell or hold anything. The desk does not rate a market as good or bad, and it does not answer the question of what a reader should do with the figures. That decision belongs to the reader alone, and the reader carries the result of it. The desk cannot carry it, because the desk does not know the reader's money, needs or situation. The desk only measures and republishes, and it says so plainly on every page.

The measurement itself is limited. The desk takes one measurement from named public sources and republishes it with the date it was read. Each chart is a real stretch of price history where the written rule found the pattern, with the lines drawn the way the definition says. It shows one occurrence; it is not proof. A pattern appearing once does not mean it will appear again, and a pattern completing once does not mean it will complete the same way next time. The desk does not turn the occurrence into a finding about the market.

What the desk is and is not

The site is an independent editorial desk. It acts neither as a broker nor as an exchange nor as a licensed adviser, and client money is never held. The desk does not take orders, does not execute trades, and does not hold or move any reader's money. No accounts, login, newsletter or comment form is on offer. The site runs no analytics, and neither sets a cookie of its own nor stores anything in the reader's browser. The hosting provider behind the pages keeps technical request logs of its own, as web hosts generally do, and the publisher does not read readers' personal data from them. The desk's only contact is the address on the contact page, and that address reaches the desk for corrections and questions about the figures.

Responsibility for the figures sits with the publication's editorial desk: the Naija Chart Patterns desk. The desk reads the named sources, checks the figures against those sources, and answers corrections. No person is named as the author of a measurement, because the measurement is the desk's work, not one person's. The desk corrects any wrong figure and marks the correction with its date. The desk does not promise that every figure is right; it promises that every figure is checked against the source named under the chart, and that a reader can check the same source through the link provided. That is the desk's responsibility, and it ends there.

How the desk earns

A single broker, FxPro, is linked by means of an affiliate link, and the site receives a commission when a reader opens an account there. A reader owes this site nothing and owes the broker nothing extra. The commission does not change the figures on this site, and it does not change the way the desk measures a pattern. The desk would measure the same pattern the same way whether or not the affiliate link existed. The affiliate relationship is stated plainly on this page and on the page about the publisher, so a reader can see where the site's money comes from and weigh the figures with that knowledge in hand.

The reader decides alone whether to follow the link. Another party runs the broker's own site under separate terms and a separate privacy policy; the link leads away from this site. The desk does not control the broker's site, does not see what a reader does there, and does not earn from anything other than the stated commission. The desk earns nothing from a reader who does not open an account, and it earns nothing from any trade or loss or gain the reader may have. The affiliate commission is the site's only source of money from readers.

Corrections and what the desk cannot do

The address on the contact page is the way to reach the desk. The address serves corrections; any figure found wrong is corrected and the correction is dated. The desk reads messages that point to a specific figure, a specific source, or a specific line on a chart, and it checks those against the source named. If the figure is wrong, the desk corrects it and marks the correction with the date. If the figure is right, the desk leaves it as it is. The desk does not answer questions about what a reader should do with a figure, because that would be advice, and the desk does not give advice. The desk does not answer questions about a reader's own account, because the desk cannot see it and does not want to see it.

The desk cannot do a reader's own checking for them. The desk names the sources and links them, but a reader who wants certainty must open the source and read it. The desk cannot promise that a source will stay online, that a figure will not change after the desk reads it, or that a reader will understand the figure the same way the desk does. The desk cannot promise that a chart pattern will behave the way the textbook says, because the textbook describes what has happened, not what will happen. The desk's one job is to measure and republish, and that job ends when the figure and its source are on the page.
